    Paul R. Humphreys 
    (August 
    7, 1915 - October 20, 2012)
     
    Paul 
    Richard Humphreys, 97, of 
    Huntington, went to be with his Lord Saturday, October 20, 2012 in the 
    Emogene Dolen Jones Hospice House. He was a charter member of the Woodlands 
    Retirement Community where he lived for the past 16 years. He was preceded 
    in death by his parents, Jay and Hattie Rood Humphreys; by his sisters, 
    Mabel Myers and Esther Trent; and by his brothers, James and Henry
    Humphreys. He is survived by his loving 
    wife, JoAnn Murdock Humphreys. He was 
    preceded in death by his wives, Margaret Wagstaff 
    Humphreys and Christine Perry Humphreys. 
    He and Christine (his beloved wife of 57 years) are survived by their four 
    children: Paula Ridgway (husband Mark), David 
    Humphreys (wife Gloria), Jo Austin (husband Tad), Brian
    Humphreys (wife Vicki). He is also survived 
    by 12 grandchildren: Allison Inwards, Justin Ridgway, Kate Rees, Kelly 
    Ridgway, Alex Nelson, Kimberly Martin, Nicholas Wesol, Danielle Austin, Sean 
    Austin, Emma Humphreys, Evan
    Humphreys, Brennan
    Humphreys. In addition, he is survived by 7 
    great-grandchildren: Jonathan Inwards, Marianne Inwards, Isabel Rees, Jacob 
    Nelson, Jay Nelson, Beckett Wesol, Quinn Wesol. He is survived by 4 
    stepchildren: Carol Morganski (husband Paul), 
    Jan Harvey (husband Dan), Schuler Murdock (wife Kathy. daughter Melissa),
    Paul Murdock (wife Tammy). In addition, he 
    is survived by his devoted nephew, Paul 
    Myers (wife Diane) and by his devoted niece, Becky Davis (husband Jerry).
    Paul lived a very active life. His careers 
    included having worked in management for the C & O Railroad in Huntington 
    and for the National Railway Adjustment Board in Chicago. He was active in 
    the Republican Party, including serving as co-chairman of the local Citizens 
    for President Eisenhower. He was a very active member of the Gideons 
    International and the International Order of Oddfellows where he ascended to 
    the position of Grand Master of WV. He also served on several boards, such 
    as the Huntington City Mission, plus he was elected to the Huntington Park 
    Commission. Paul attended Baptist Churches 
    (where he enjoyed teaching), including spending many years at Baptist Temple 
    in Huntington. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 23, 
    2012 at Klingel Carpenter Mortuary by the Rev. Keith Wiebe. Interment will 
    follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon 
    until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial 
    contributions may be made to the Gideons International or Hospice of 
    Huntington.
