Obituary
Orland C. Hunt Jr.,
92, of Huntington, WV, husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and
Christian, entered into eternal life, Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at the
Veterans Hospital in Huntington. Orland was the son of the late Orland C.
Hunt and Minnie Farris Hunt. He was also preceded in death by a sister
Eloise Radcliffe, brothers Robert L. Hunt, James F. Hunt, and David E. Hunt.
He retired from the U.S. Postal Service where he served as Assistant
Postmaster. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Ceredo, WV. Orland
served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Amphibious
Landing Force. He was a 50 year member of the Crescent Lodge #32 AF and AM,
Ceredo, WV, where he served as Past Master and was secretary for 10 years.
He was a 33 degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Faithful Forty.
In addition, he was a member of the American Legion Post 93, Kenova and was
also a Kentucky Colonel for many years. Orland is survived by his wife of 72
years, Charlene, one son Michael Hunt, one daughter Carla Hunt Chekos and
her husband Mark of Roswell, GA, one granddaughter Stephanie Chekos Baxley,
one grandson Alexander Michael Chekos. Orland had a true love of nature ,
enjoyed hunting and fishing, gardening , and Bible Study. His greatest joy
other than his Beloved wife Charlene was the role of being a Grandfather.
Visitation will begin at 3:00 pm Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Reger Funeral
Home 1242 Adams Avenue Huntington, WV 25704. Memorial service to follow.
Pastor Rodney Hale of the First Baptist Church of Ceredo will officiate the
service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Children’s Shoe
Ministry, First Baptist Church, 448 Main Street P.O. Box 967 Ceredo, WV
25507.
