      Obituary

    David Ohl
    (December 7, 1934 - September 5, 2018)

    David Wise Ohl,
beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on September
5,2018 after a short illness. He was born December 7,1934 in Akron, Ohio,
son of Rachel and Clyde Ohl. In 1956 during a period of three weeks, he
graduated from Case Institute of Technology, married his wife Mary Lou, and
moved to Huntington, WV.  He then began his long career at International
Nickel Company which later became Special Metals serving in a variety of
positions, retiring after forty-three years as VP of Marketing and Sales.
During his 62 years in Huntington, he was always very active in the
community. He served on numerous boards including the Ronald McDonald House,
YMCA Board and Foundation, and was a longtime trustee for Johnson Memorial
United Methodist Church. He was also an active member of the Rotary Club of
Huntington as well as the City Club. During the Christmas season, you could
always find him selling Christmas trees for Big Brothers Big Sisters or
ringing the bell for The Salvation Army. Despite his busy schedule, his
family was always his number one priority. When his family was young, he was
always present as a coach, a cheerleader, or bus driver. Later on, as his
family grew older, he loved to organize family gatherings and vacations,
always attending to the most minute details. He was most proud of his five
grandchildren attending each of their high school and college graduations.
With their assistance, he even mastered the art of texting so that he could
keep up with their busy lives. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Lou
Ohl, his son Jeffrey C Ohl, and by his two sisters and brother. He is
survived by his son Matthew Ohl (Suzanne) of Charlotte, NC and by his
daughter Jennifer Sanders (David) of Shorewood WI. He is further survived by
his grandchildren Kathryn Ohl Moore (John), Sara Ohl, Christopher Ohl, all
of Charlotte NC, and Hallie Sanders of Nashville, TN, and Henry Sanders of
Olympia WA. As we celebrate his life, the family would like to recognize his
wide circle of friends from Huntington as well as those in his summer
community of Lakeside, OH. A visitation will be held from 5:30 pm until 8:00
pm, Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary. Funeral
service will be at 11:00 am, Friday, September 14, 2018 at Johnson Memorial
United Methodist Church in Huntington, WV.
