Carl Adkins Jr.
(February 22, 1942 - September 16, 2018)

CARL IRVIN ADKINS JR., Born February 22, 1942. Passed in peace at the age of 76 years old on 16 September, 2018. Veteran of the United States Army, served with the 101st Airborne Division, awarded a bachelor's degree in Philosophy from Marshall University, licensed social worker, avid reader, flamenco guitarist, 3rd degree black belt in taekwondo, published author, studied eastern philosophy and had a unique sense of humour. Preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Grace Adkins, father Carl I. Adkins and two sons, Carl (Cary) I. Adkins III and Samuel Adkins. A loving husband to his wife, Janet Adkins, endearing father of three children and four step-children: daughter Jennifer O’Conner (Brian), sons John Paul Adkins and Christopher Adkins (Monica), step-daughters Cheryl Ward (Tim), Michelle Brackett, and stepsons Larry Knight (Tracy) and Christopher Knight. Blessed with eleven grandchildren, Paxton, Dylan, Marcus, Abigail, Isabel, Kylie, Dorey, Kara, Michael, Sarah and David. Blessed with a great-grandson, Kade. Visitation will be held prior to services on Friday 21st September, 10 a.m. at the Holy Spirit Orthodox Church at 1 Woodhaven Drive, Huntington, WV, 25701. Funeral services will be held by Father John Dixon at 11 a.m. Graveside services will be held promptly at 2:30 p.m. at the Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, 130 Academy Drive, Dunbar, WV, 25064.
