    William "Hack" 
    McCloud 
    March 26, 2010 - November 16, 2010
     
    William H. “Hack” McCloud, 90, of 
    Stow, Oh, formerly of Huntington, WV and Ashtabula, Oh, passed away bravely 
    Tuesday, November 16, 2010. Hack was born March 26, 1920 in Logan, WV and 
    was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Mary (Fuller) McCloud, an 
    infant daughter, Laura McCloud, a brother, Shelton McCloud and a cousin, 
    Billie Jewell Mills. Hack is survived by a son, William (Anita) H. McCloud, 
    Jr of Stow, Oh; four daughters, Drenna Wene of Lebanon, Oh, Sherry McCloud 
    of Ashtabula, Oh, Nancy (Jeff) Clark of Columbus Ga. and Amy (Art) Venditti 
    of Ashtabula, Oh; 11 grand children; 5 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great 
    grandchild, beloved sister, Violet Midkiff and nephew, Carl (Elizabeth) 
    Midkiff, both of Huntington, WV. Hack served his country with honor in the 
    30th Infantry Division (“Old Hickory”) of the U. S. Army, fought in all 5 
    major European campaigns and was awarded 2 Purple Hearts. Prior to his 
    retirement in 1990, he worked as a welder at Elkem Metals for thirty-five 
    years. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and DAV. During his youth, Hack 
    held his pilot's license and was a motorcycle enthusiast. He enjoyed NASCAR 
    and Marshall football. An avid gardener, he was blessed with a green thumb 
    and shared his bountiful harvests with everyone. Prior to his retirement, he 
    enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting and fishing. A funeral service will be 
    held 2 P.M. Friday, November 19, 2010 at the Woodmere Abbey of Remembrance 
    at Washington Blvd and Avondale Road in Huntington. Visitation will be an 
    hour prior to service time. Expressions of sympathy may be made to D.A.V. 
    Post #2, V.F.W. Post 1064 or American Legion Post #16 in Huntington.
