Mrs. Violet Midkiff
(March 18, 1918 - December 26, 2010)

Violet Midkiff, 92, of Huntington, WV, passed away December 26, 2010. She is survived by her son Carl, his wife Elizabeth and grandsons Wade Midkiff, Lewis Midkiff and Stacy Lewis, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Egbert Midkiff, her two brothers Shelton and Haskell McCloud and her parents Lewis and Mary McCloud.
Violet is an American success story. She was a pioneer for women’s advancement in business. She held leadership positions in many professional, civic and political organizations. She was the past president of several local and state organizations including the Huntington Board of Realtors, WV Association of Realtors, WV Hotel/Motel Association, WV Women’s Council of Realtors, City of Huntington Foundation and the Tri-State Homebuilders Association.
Violet’s strength of character, her loyalty, kindness and her great positive spirit earned her the admiration and friendship of all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, December 30, at Klingel Carpenter Mortuary, 328 Sixth Avenue, Huntington by the Rev. Skip Seibel. Visitation will be prior from noon until service time. Entombment will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park’s Abbey of Remembrance. The family offers heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful caretakers Violet has had over the last few years.
