Obituary
Betty V. Lyons,
84, of Huntington passed away on Sunday at St Mary’s Hospital after a short
illness. Funeral rites will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 4,
2012 at the Reger Funeral Chapel, burial will follow in White Chapel
Memorial Gardens. She was a lifelong resident of Westmoreland and member of
the congregation at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was retired from AK
Steel in Ashland and worked at Marshall University later in life. She was
preceded in death by her mother Lucille Hicks and step father, William
Curtis Hicks; a sister, Juanita Morris; and a niece, Bonnie Heflin. She is
survived by her two sons; David and wife Kim of McDonough, GA; and Dale and
wife Terri of Fairmont, West Virginia; grandson Matthew Lyons and wife
Nicole; granddaughter Kimberly Lyons; great grandchildren Ethan, Jackson,
Liam and Brody; nieces Sherry M. Hoss and husband Kenneth; Vickie M. Gardner
and husband Randy; and Kathy M. Patterson and husband John. Additional
survivors include 4 Nephews, 16 great niece's and 11 great nephews. Betty
deeply loved all of her children, grandchildren and great-children. She had
a passion that her grandson Jackson, who has autism, reach his full
potential. So in lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations to be made
to the autism support group, Ryan’s Friends, Inc, PO Box 2587, McDonough, GA
30253. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until service time, Wednesday at the
Reger Funeral Home.
