Averil Joann Sowards
(November 26, 1951 - May 9, 2017)

Averil “AJ”Joann Hepler Sowards, 65, from Huntington, WV passed away peacefully the morning of May 9, 2017. AJ is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whom she trusted with her salvation. She is survived by her son, Kyle also of Huntington, WV, uncles, Dr. Richard Hepler and Danny Hepler. She was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Christopher “Chris” Sowards, her loving parents Dr. Roy F. Helper and Barbara “Bobby” Lee Holmes Hepler, aunts, Averil Margaret Holmes Koepfer and Linda Hepler; and uncle, George Koepfer. Her quirky yet matter of fact personality was a joy to be around to her family and friends and she will be missed greatly yet we have hope that she is not only at peace now but rather prospering in eternity. Arrangements are being handled by Klingel-Carpenter and to honor her wishes a graveside service will be held by Pastor Scott Duncan at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2017. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time in the cemetery chapel.
