    Harold Dennis Lunsford

    HAROLD DENNIS LUNSFORD, 92, of 
    Huntington, WV, passed away at his home on February 4, 2016. He was born on 
    September 6, 1923, in Hillsboro, OH, the son of Dennis Lunsford and Melva 
    Mae Redkey Lunsford. He was a WWII Veteran, having served in the U. S. Army 
    primarily in the Pacific Theater and on into Japan immediately following its 
    surrender. He graduated from Marshall College in 1950 with a Bachelor of 
    Engineering Science degree. He was a Registered Professional Engineer and 
    was a member of the Engineers Club of Huntington. Harold retired from INCO 
    (Huntington Alloys) in 1984 and then was a Professor of Engineering at WV 
    Tech for 13 years. He served as President of the National Management 
    Association in 1975 and held Certificate #1 as a Certified Professional 
    Manager from the Institute of Certified Professional Managers which he was 
    instrumental in founding. Harold was a member of Beverly Hills United 
    Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy Jones 
    Lunsford; two children, Jeanne D. Lunsford Solis (Jay) of Claremont, CA and 
    David H. Lunsford (Dianne) of Huntington, WV. He is also survived by his 
    only living grandchild, David B. Lunsford of Wheeling, WV; his 
    brother-in-law, Jimmie J. France of Bloomington, IL; and a host of nieces, 
    nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 
    his sister, Lorraine Freshcorn France; his brother and sister-in-law, John 
    and June Freshcorn; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Josephine and 
    Russell Nichols; and his grandson, Michael Christian Lunsford. In lieu of 
    flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to Hospice 
    of Huntington, Inc. or Beverly Hills United Methodist Church for its food 
    bank ministry. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday, 
    February 19, 2016 at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary, and will be followed by A 
    Celebration of Life, conducted by Rev. Jerry Wood at 1 p.m. Entombment will 
    follow at Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington.
