Benjamin Jones Hiner Jr.

Benjamin Jones Hiner Jr., 97, of Huntington, died Monday, June 22, 2015 at home. He was born December 25, 1917 in San Francisco, CA a son of the late Benjamin Jones and Anne McNulty Hiner. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Jo Gawthrop Hiner in 2012. He attended Marshal University and was a graduate of Annapolis Naval Academy. He retired from the US Navy as a Commander after serving in WWII and The Korean Conflict then ran the Naval Reserve Unit in Huntington. He worked at Huntington Steel and retired from Roberts and Shaffer. He is survived by seven children, fourteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, Cathy Hood, husband Gary, children Jamie (Michele) and their sons Everett and Waylon, Katie (Daniel) and their daughters Adeline and Juliette; Jones Hiner (Carol) and son Shane; Jo Gayle Hiner and son Jake (Patricia) and their daughter Catherine; Mary Hiner and children Shane, Matt and Mike (Christina) and their son Connor; Joe Hiner and wife Debbie, children Benji and Sara (Jason) and daughter Myla; Charlotte Spurlock and husband Jim and children Brian and Zack (Mandy) and their son Mason; John Hiner and wife Shay, children Maggie, Jack and Liz and her daughters Rylan and Elliot and his cat Evie. Private services will be held for the family. Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Organization of Ones’ choice.
