    Jane Downs Long

    Jane Downs Long 
    of Huntington, formerly of Logan, ended her journey June 20, 2014 at The 
    Woodlands Retirement Community. She was one of the first babies born in 
    Logan General Hospital on August 26, 1923 to the late Earl Downs and Freda 
    Elizabeth Weigel Downs. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 
    years, William R. Long, Sr., her sister, Doris Elizabeth Downs Haeberle and 
    many special family members. She is survived by her son, William R. 
    (Victoria) Long, Jr. and her daughter, Jill Long Ross; grandchildren, 
    William R. (Michele) Long III, Christy Long (Mike) Gue, Jonathan Michael 
    Ross and Elisabeth Jane Ross. Great-grandsons, William R. Long IV, Ian Long, 
    Jasper Gue and Cameron Gue; sisters-in-law, Naomi Long and Emma Lou Long 
    Brown and many nieces, nephews and family. She was a long-time member of the 
    First Presbyterian Church of Logan and most recently a member of the First 
    Presbyterian Church of Huntington. She was active in Boy Scouts, Girl 
    Scouts, PTA and anything her husband and children were involved in. She was 
    a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was blessed with many, 
    many special friends. Private interment was previously held at Forest Lawn 
    Cemetery. A “Celebration of Life” will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 
    2014 at the First Presbyterian Church of Huntington, 1015 Fifth Ave. with 
    Rev. Dr. John Minihan and Rev. Skip Seibel. In lieu of flowers, 
    contributions to First Presbyterian Church of Logan or First Presbyterian 
    Church of Huntington would be appreciated. Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary is 
    assisting with arrangements.
