    Garneda Neff

    Garneda
    Neff, 90, of Huntington, widow 
    of Fred G. Neff., died Sunday, December 22, 
    2013 at Huntington Health and Rehab. She was the Daughter of the late 
    Russell and Agnes Hampton. Garneda Hampton 
    was born in Ribolt, Lewis County, KY. She was raised in Tollesboro, KY. She 
    attended Business College in Portsmouth, Ohio where she later got a job at 
    Dunn Coal Company. It was across the street from Floods Drug Store where 
    Fred Neff worked. They met there and got 
    married in 1947. They had a son, James R. Neff 
    in 1948. That same year, they moved to Huntington, WV. She lived there ever 
    since. Garneda was also employed at 
    Anderson Newcomb and Co., which later became Stone and Thomas. Fred and
    Garneda were members of the First 
    Presbyterian Church in Huntington, WV. Garneda 
    served as the historian for the Huntington Civic League.
    Garneda was preceded in death by her 
    husband Fred Neff, her son, James R.
    Neff of Grayson, KY, two brothers, Samuel 
    H. Hampton and Russell V. "Jay" Hampton, both of Lewis County, KY, and one 
    sister, Edith June Sullivan of Vanceburg, KY. Surviving are one grandson, 
    Christopher A. and Stephanie Neff, five 
    great-grandchildren, one daughter-in-law, Donna 
    Neff, four nieces Diana Smoot of Morehead, KY, Susan Sullivan of 
    Covington, KY, Dawn Breeze and Donna Rankin both of Morehead, KY, and one 
    nephew Samuel H. Hampton II. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. 
    Thursday, December 26, 2013 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Huntington, WV.
