Evelyn Lucille Stewart Saunders, 85, of Huntington, died Thursday, March 4, 2010 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. She was born November 20, 1924 in Huntington, a daughter of the late Cecil and Nellie Huffman Stewart. She retired from Island Creek Coal Company’s Huntington office, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she was active with the Love-Bee Circle. Evelyn was also preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon and three brothers; Virgil Stewart of Aurora, Mo, Ernest Stewart of Huntington and Charles Stewart of Cabool, Mo. She is survived by her husband William E. Saunders; a son, Reid Turner of Phoenix, Az; a stepdaughter, Kelly King of Columbus, OH; three granddaughters, Tracey, Cheryl and Reida; four great-grandchildren and a brother, Vinson Stewart of Milton, W.Va. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary by Dr. Paul Russell. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
