Obituary
Jeanne Leland of Huntington, WV,
heard the footsteps of her Lord as He came to take her home February 8th.
She was preceded in death by her siblings Virginia, Ruth, Lois, Beverly,
Buddy and her beloved sister Dorothy. Her baby brother John "J.T." Adkins of
Modesto, CA, is her only surviving brother. Her children, Mike (Karen)
Leland of Lewisburg, WV, Pat (Janette) Leland of Charleston, SC, and Mindy
(Rocky) Stanley of Huntington, WV, are left with years of wonderful memories
of their mother. Jeanne embodied the quintessential description of a
grandmother to all who interacted with her. She loved her long-distance
grand and great grands whose pictures were always displayed throughout her
home: Shaun (Janet) Leland of Pensacola, FL, with John & Jonah, Matt (Kristie)
Leland of Slidell, LA, with Mattie & Gavin, and Jennifer (Scott) Harper of
Houston, TX, with Laine & Ethan. And she loved her local grand and great
grands: Craig (Michelle) Eplion of Proctorville, OH, with Madi & Max and
Patrick (Emily) Stanley of Huntington. After her love of Jesus, Jeanne's
great joy was found in the weekly visits of her great grands who will never
forget their grandmother's weekly serenades of "I Love You a Bushel and a
Peck..." A memorial service will be held at Henson & Kitchen Mortuary on
East Pea Ridge Rd., Huntington, W.Va. on Monday, February 13th at 4pm with
visitation starting at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, Jeanne would prefer
donations made in her name to Covenant School of Huntington, WV.
