    Maybelle Lee

    Maybelle Morgan Lee, 93, 
    passed away on June 19, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Forest J. 
    Morgan and Cora Ethel Isley Morgan. She was preceded in death by her brother 
    Milford Dale Morgan. She is survived by her beloved husband, Donald Moore 
    Lee; her daughter, Cindy Margaret Lee, her son-in-law, Riley Randolph 
    Stevens; Her son, Marshall Morgan Lee. She is also survived by three 
    granddaughters, Eve Morgan Stevens and her husband, Stephen K. Allinger, 
    Jr., Lee Bridges Stevens, and Kirsten Karah Lee; and one grandson, Blake 
    Thomas Clapp-Lee. She is also survived by Betty Monger Morgan, her 
    sister-in-law; Lesley Elizabeth Slover Kammerer and her daughter, Kathryn 
    Elizabeth Kammerer. Maybelle grew up near Muncie, IN, graduated from 
    Harrison High School and worked as an inspector in the Ball canning jar 
    factory and in a grocery store in Gaston, IN, until she decided to attend 
    Ball State University. She graduated in 1950 with a degree in Home 
    Economics. She later took several classes in accounting from Marshall 
    University. Maybelle taught home economics in Cambridge City, IN, and 
    Parkville, MD, as well as Adult Education in Charleston, WV, and substitute 
    teaching in Huntington, WV. She met her future husband, Don Lee, at Ft. Knox 
    on her birthday in 1952 and they were married on June 20, 1953. She lived in 
    Charleston, WV, for many years where she made several life-long friends. 
    After moving to Huntington in 1970 she continued to form deep friendships. 
    She enjoyed traveling with Don in their Cessna and served as a top-notch 
    navigator, long before the days of GPS, using aviation maps and landmarks to 
    fly to Alaska, California, Colorado, the Bahamas as well as many other 
    places across the US. Maybelle also visited Europe, cruised the Panama 
    Canal, and the Society Islands in the Pacific. She was an avid reader who 
    enjoyed reading the Little House on the Prairie books aloud on car trips to 
    introduce that love to her children. A talented needle crafter, Maybelle 
    knitted sweaters, crocheted afghans, embroidered pillow tops and other 
    projects. Maybelle was a good cook, specializing in casseroles that the 
    family called Maybelle Specials. She grew up in the Methodist Church and was 
    an active member of Morris Memorial Methodist Church, Charleston, WV, and 
    since 1972 Beverly Hills United Methodist Church, Huntington, WV. In lieu of 
    flowers, please make donations to Beverly Hills United Methodist Church. 
    Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 pm on Thursday, June 23, with funeral services 
    at 2 pm at Klingel-Carpenter, Huntington, WV, by Dr. Jerry Wood. Graveside 
    services by Rev. Woody Sears and Rev. Emily Sears will be held at 3:30 pm on 
    Saturday, June 25, at Thompson Cemetery in Gaston, IN, with visitation 
    beforehand from 1-3 pm at Gant Funeral Home of Gaston.
