Virgil L. Stone
(October 24, 1930 - March 3, 2014)

Virgil L. Stone, 83, of Huntington died on Monday, March 3, 2014 at Montgomery Care Center in Montgomery, OH. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2014 by the Rev. Joseph Hill at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary. Visitation will be 1 pm to 2 pm prior to the service. Interment will follow in Ridgelawn Memorial Park. Virgil was born October 24, 1930 in Huntington, WV son of the late Dr. Joseph and Marjorie Giddings Stone. Mr. Stone was retired from the Huntington Alloys Manufacturing Co. He is survived by his four children: Susan Davis of Pt. Pleasant, WV; Fred (Brenda) Stone of Chesapeake, OH; Jackie Miller of Franklin Furnace, OH; and Beverly (Donald) Gossett of Forestdale, OH. Grandchildren: Amy Garrett of Pt. Pleasant, WV; Philip Holland of Marietta, OH; Andrew Miller of Franklin Furnace, OH; Natalie (David) Sharp of Montgomery, OH; Melissa Linn of Hurricane, WV; Carrie (Phil) Edminston of Pt. Pleasant, WV; Leanna Stone of Las Vegas, NV; and Aaron Stone of Chesapeake, OH. He is also survived by 16 great- grandchildren, sister Ada Marie Brown of Des Moines, WA, many nieces and nephews and his beloved cat, Butterscotch. Virgil was preceded in death by his brother, Herbert Stone of Birmingham, AL. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Huntington Cabell Wayne Animal Control Shelter.
