    Mrs. Deloris “Jean” Dailey, age 79, 
    of Amelia Island, FL passed away on Tuesday morning, March 1, 2011 at 
    Baptist Medical Center – Jacksonville.  
    Born in Hurricane, WV, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Sylvia 
    Hodges Martin. A longtime resident of the Milton / Culloden, WV area, she 
    had been the secretary to Mayor Jim Black in Milton and afterwards served as 
    Police Dispatcher. While living in Milton, the Dailey’s were instrumental in 
    the building of the Catholic Church of the Ascension, in Hurricane, where 
    Mrs. Dailey sang in the choir and was active in the Ladies League. In 1995 
    after her husband’s retirement, they moved to Hilton Head Island, SC.  
    After vacationing and enjoying the unspoiled beauty and olde world 
    atmosphere of Amelia Island for a number of years; in 2003 Mrs. Dailey and 
    her husband, Don left Hilton Head and relocated to Fernandina Beach.  
    Mrs. Dailey loved reading novels, daily reading her Bible, time on the 
    beaches of Amelia Island, watching the ocean and time with her family.  
    She was a loving mother, grandmother and best friend to her family and her 
    Cocker Spaniel. “Tebow”.  
    Mrs. Dailey is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Donald E. 
    Dailey, who passed away in December of 2007, and sisters, Martha Morris Yoho 
    and Eloise Morris Morrison.  
    She leaves behind, her son, Gregory Alan “Greg” Dailey (Sheila), Huntington, 
    WV, daughter, Deborah Jean “Debbi” Johnson (Wes), Amelia Island, FL, 
    sisters, Doralee Johnston, Huntington, WV, Ada Morris Gay, Hampton, VA, 
    three grandchildren, Jayson B. Smith, Amelia Island, FL, Samantha J. Dailey, 
    Huntington, WV, Franklin E. Dailey, Oakland, MD and special nieces and 
    nephews, Brenda Whitely, Jane Compton, Joylene Taylor, Roger Morrison and 
    Darrel Morrison.  
    The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am, on Monday, March 7, 2011 
    at the Catholic Church of the Ascension, Hurricane, WV with the Reverend 
    Neil Buchlein officiating.  
    Mrs. Dailey will be laid to rest beside her husband in Valley View Memorial 
    Park.  
    Her family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 pm on Sunday at the Heck 
    Funeral Home, Milton, WV.
