Bernice Jones,
85 Years, 10 Months & 18 Days, of Huntington, WV entered into eternal peace Friday, December 3, 2021 at the Huntington Health & Rehabilitation. Bernice was born January 15, 1936 in Detroit, MI. Bernice is preceded in death by John & Dorothy Hasty; and special friend, John William Clark. She was raised by Mr. & Mrs. Hasty of Detroit, later moving to New York. Bernice relocated to Huntington, WV in the 90s after the death of Mrs. Hasty. Following the death of Mr. Hasty, Bernice made her home with Stephanie Holman, her devoted friend and caregiver where she became a member of the family. Bernice joined Sixteenth Street Baptist Church and devoted much of her time to the ministries of the church. She was a member of the Sunday School, Choir, Culinary Committee, Women’s Auxiliary and Bible Study group. Her volunteer “job” was to manage the weekly church bulletins for distribution each Sunday. For this, she took meticulous responsibility and made sure that each bulletin with the accompanying insert was folded to perfection. Bernice was a special person who gave and showed love and compassion for all she encountered. Her warm smile with outstretched arms will be missed by all who were blessed to know her. She leaves to cherish her memory; caregiver, Stephanie Holman, Paul Hasty, Eva Layne; special friends, Eudora Moore-Howard, Deborah Brown, Jacque Hornbuckle, Georgia Cheeks, Sadie Page and her Sixteenth Street Baptist Church family. A Special Thank You to Huntington Health & Rehabilitation for their compassionate care of Bernice. Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home has been entrusted with the final care of Bernice. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Sixteenth Street Baptist Church 1647 9th Avenue, Huntington, WV with Reverend Dr. James Redd, Jr., Pastor, officiating.
