Archie L. Johnson

ARCHIE L. JOHNSON 

   79, of Huntington, West Virginia passed away peacefully at Glasgow Health and Rehabilitation Center on April 16, 2021. Archie was born on October 8, 1941 in Huntington, son of the late Robert H. Johnson and Frances E.Steward.

   Archie graduated from Douglass High School. He enlisted and served in the United States Army for six years in the early ’70s.Archie was a steel mill worker at Connors Steel for 28 years, retiring in 2001. He is survived by two daughters, Dawn and Annalisha, two sons, Christopher and Robert; siblings, Roberta Jones, Edna Ruth Zerrquera, Robert (Sonny) Johnson Jr., Ellen Johnson, and Zelma Morton, and a host of nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Donna Kay Johnson, and siblings, Nancy Johnson, William Johnson, and Johnnie Mae Jones.

   Archie was well known in Huntington, especially on Doulton Avenue and at the Marie Redd Senior Life and Enrichment Center. His favorite activities were walking the neighborhood, laughing, and talking with people. Everyone knew Big Archie, Uncle Archie, or Mr. Archie.

   Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no memorial service at this time. In addition, the family is not accepting any visitors.
