David Henry
Long
(November 17, 1946 - November 13,
2019)
David Henry Long, 72, of Huntington,
WV passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at The Sanctuary of
the Ohio Valley. He was born on November 17, 1946 in Saint Marys, WV to the
late Ackley M. Long and Dorothy O. Roth Long, both of Huntington. He was
the brother of the late Donald E. Long of Huntington. Corporal Long served
in the Marine Corps from 1963 to 1967. He distinguished himself in combat
action serving as liaison official to the Republic of Korea Marine Corps
directing air, land, and naval gunfire as a member of the USMC 1st ANGLICO.
David was also a career surveyor and retired from the Huntington Army Corps
of Engineers. He leaves behind to cherish his memories; sisters, Sallie
Sturm (Bill) of Milton, WV and Mona Lou Deaver of Union, WV; and brother,
John E. Long (Karen) of Stafford, VA. Also, surviving is a host of other
family members and friends. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00
A.M., Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home with
Minister Brent Sturm, officiating. Family will welcome friends at 10:00
A.M.
