      Obituary

	Bethanne Beckwith (Alexander) Cooney
	(January 19, 1942 - July 12, 2022)

	Bethanne Beckwith Cooney 80 of
Huntington, WV went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, July 19, 2022. Funeral
services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Beard Mortuary with Rev.
Donna Hinkle officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Memorial Park. The
family will receive friends on Sunday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. She was born
January 19, 1942, daughter of the late Norman Robert and Mary Dame
Alexander. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her
loving husband, John Edward Cooney and a great granddaughter, Kendall Swann.
She graduated from Huntington High School in 1959 and the past few years she
felt very fortunate to be able to reside at the Renaissance House (former
Huntington High) which reminded her of many fond high school memories
especially as she would travel down the hallways and her apartment was her
old Biology Classroom.  Bethanne had over 30 years of service with Allied
Warehouse. After she and John retired, they enjoyed traveling in their
motorhome with friends and visiting many places in the U.S. They traveled
several years with friends to Florida and became known as “Snowbirds”.  Bethanne
was very active in church activities; she played a major role in designing
and sewing costumes for church plays and events. She was a very talented
seamstress and could sew practically anything without a pattern. She later
started making quilts which seemed to be something she truly loved. She
loved her church and church family; her memberships include the former
Otterbein and Faith United Methodist Churches and currently Community of
Grace United Methodist Church where she will be greatly missed. She is
survived by her children, Mary Elizabeth (Ed) Shuff, Brenda Kay (Tim) Long,
Terri (Billy) Burns, Phyllis Boyce, Rebecca “Becky” (Mark) Cooper and John
	Hugh Cooney, 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great
grandchildren with one on the way, a brother Norman “Bobby” (Sara) Alexander
and a host of friends and church family.
